Ubisoft: PC piracy rate around 95%, F2P is the way forward
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has stated that the amount of players paying for F2P microstransaction content is the same as those paying for full PC titles. Guillemot also stresses that free-to-play titles are an ideal anti-piracy solution for the publisher, stating that 95% of people playing its titles aren’t playing them legally.

EA to release free-to-play titles through Aeria
Free-to-play games are one step closer to world domination. Aeria Games, the publisher of WolfTeam and Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine, among others, has just signed a deal with EA to bring the Play4Free titles to a wider audience.

New F2P company founded by former Frogstar CEO
A new publishing company as joined the ever-burgeoning ranks of the free-2-play market. Infernum, has been founded in Berlin by former Frogstar CEO, Andreas Weidenhaupt who said of the company’s goals “The market for high-quality MMO games that are free to play is growing dynamically and we intend to become a major player in the space.”
Infernum’s website states its focus is on “MMO games as well as social and mobile entertainment.”
