Metal Gear Solid 5′s next trailer will not feature explosions or carnage of any kind, creator Hideo Kojima has revealed, but it will be full of gameplay and insight into what’s going on.
Metal Gear Solid 5 creator Hideo Kojima has stated that while he has had a long and prosperous history on Sony formats, it’s time to go multi-platform from here . He also feels that cloud gaming is the future.
This week we got to see a presentation from Kojima and co., and aside from discussing Metal Gear Solid 5 they also showed off that game’s new engine, the FOX Engine. And, I should say, it really does look nice. Click through for a short video demonstrating its graphical fidelity.
Wednesday we learned that David Hayter, longtime voice actor for Solid Snake and Big Boss, will not be back for Metal Gear Solid 5. GameTrailers asked Hideo Kojima how that could be, and he gave them an answer. “It will be a new person, I can’t say who yet. What we’re trying to accomplish is to recreate the Metal Gear series. It’s a new type of Metal Gear game, and we want to have this reflected in the voice actor as well.”
Yesterday at GDC, Hideo Kojima said that Metal Gear Ground Zeroes and faux-mysterious Phantom Pain were actually together Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, and also that Ground Zeroes is the prologue. We interpreted that to mean they are one game, but that is not the case. A Konami spokesperson told GameSpot Ground Zeroes and MGS5 are separate titles. OK.
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain received its first full reveal trailer at GDC last night. It’s brimming with secrets and nods to what may happen next. Click the link above to help me play ‘spot the tease’.
The end of an era. David Hayter is not playing Snake in Metal Gear Solid 5. See his tweets above. *sadface*
Kojima showed off some more Metal Gear Solid 5 gameplay at GDC last night, this time the hospital scene from the Phantom Pain trailer. It shows Big Boss crawling around trying to make his legs work again as mad stuff happens all around him. Watch it above.
We were at GDC to see Hideo Kojima confirm and talk about Metal Gear Solid 5. Steph wrote up the whole session, which included two demos and a FOX Engine presentation that looked rather insane. Check it out above.
