Kojima says his "erotic characters" tweet was mistranslated; meant "sexy"

Speaking to the press Thursday in Los Angeles, Kojima Productions boss Hideo Kojima says his tweets this week about altering Metal Gear Solid 5 characters to make them more "erotic" featured a mistranslation, and that was not the word he intended to use.

Kojima's translator said this when questioned about the tweeted remarks: "What he's really trying to do is create unique characters, and one is of course Quiet. She's a really unique character, and he wanted to add that sexiness. So it wasn't very erotic but more of the sexy."

One character in particular, Quiet, has drawn attention for her "sexy" wardrobe, and the actress behind that character, Stefanie Joosten, weighed in a bit as well. "Of course, I was surprised to see Quiet's outfit at first. But, you know, it fits in the Metal Gear universe, I think. I don't think I'm allowed to say a lot about this, but, well, Mr. Kojima has his reasons for deciding why Quiet [is] wearing what she's wearing."But, you know, it fits in the Metal Gear universe, I think. I don't think I'm allowed to say a lot about this, but, well, Mr. Kojima has his reasons."

The implication is that Metal Gear Solid 5 will contain a story motivation for Quiet to be wearing what she is wearing.
