As with the original, Namco Bandai is offering you the chance to see your design featured in-game in Dark Souls 2. The competition, which opened today and runs until May 13, is hosted on the series’s Facebook page, and challenges you to design a shield. The lucky winner, chosen by community voting and a panel of From Software judges, will see their vision transformed into a 3D asset. Just Like Dark Souls and head to the Shield Design app to get started. Dark Souls 2 is headed to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and is expected either late this year or in early 2014.

Cover art for Dark Souls 2 has been released by From Software and publisher Namco Bandai. You can view it in all its glory below. It looks the same on all three formats, PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, but we’ve only posted the PC version because it is cleaners due to the lack of logos. So there’s no need for redundancy. Dark Souls 2 is expected in either late 2013 or early 2014. Thanks, AGB.

Remember that poll asking you about various potential taglines for Dark Souls 2? An update to the official Dark Souls 2 website suggests one has been chosen: Go Beyond Death. Seems pretty appropriate. The hardcore RPG sequel is expected on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in late 2013 or early 2014.

Namco Banfai has released a huge pile of localised screens for From Software’s latest, Armored Core: Verdict Day. A few of these you will have seen before, but the English translations give a much better idea of what to expect from the mech battler’s faction-based multiplayer mode. Verdict Day is heading to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Japan in September, and will also arrive in the west sometime this year.

The Dark Souls Facebook page is asking fans to vote on which tagline the sequel should employ. The first game’s “Prepare To Die” motto has some interesting potential successors – “Into The Beyond”, “Go Beyond Death, “Survive Death”, “Sacrifice Everything” and also “Transcend Death”, which is actually spelled wrong in the poll but I’m assuming that’s a typo. Sacrifice Everything and Transcend Death are the top picks at present, with major leads. Dark Souls 2 is expected in late 2013 or early 2014, on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Ninja Blade is among a list of free games being given away by Green Man Gaming and Playfire this weekend. It’s a truly bat-shit mental hack n’ slash game from Dark Souls developer From Software. It may not be the best brawler out there, but if you want a dose of fun with your gaming then you absolutely need to play it.
