Metal Gear Solid 3DS demo launches on Thursday

Nintendo’s confirmed it’ll release the demo of Metal Gear Solid 3DS: Snake Eater for eShop this coming Thursday, February 16. The demo will come ahead of the game’s March 8 release in Europe, a month after it released onto HD platforms with the MGS HD Collection. The 3DS version will come with new controls specifically for the handheld, as well as other features.

Kojima confirms touch pad support for MGS HD Vita

Hideo Kojima’s further teased the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for Vita after the first round of his antics yesterday, confirming in some form touch pad support for the pack. Kojima confirmed it after mentioning he was overseeing voicework specifically with the pad controls with the Japanese voice actor of Zero in MGS3. He also teased more shots of it in action, this time on MGS3.

Kojima teases MGS HD Collection for Vita

Hideo Kojima’s taken to Twitter this morning to tease the Vita version of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. He posted two pics that highlight both MGS2 and MGS3. Kojima took the photos whilst recording new, Vita-specific dialogue for MGS3.

Bayonetta’s main programmer confirmed as Metal Gear Rising’s director

This week’s Famitsu’s confirmed that Metal Gear Rising’s director is Kenji Saito. Saito, who was the main programmer on Bayonetta, was confirmed to be in the role as a part of a roundtable interview for the game featuring Hideo Kojima, Platinum CEO Tatsuya Minami and producer Atsushi Inaba. It was previously speculated that Bayonetta director Hideki Kamiya was directing the project, but it was something he continuously denied on Twitter.

Metal Gear Rising gets extended VGAs trailer

Konami’s put out a slightly extended version of the VGAs trailer for Metal Gear Rising that was shown on Saturday. The bits in particular are after Raiden takes out Metal Gear Ray, him cutting a cardboard box with an enemy in side and a credits bit. Get watching below the break.

Rising launches from Konami and Platinum Games under Kojima Productions’ supervision next year on PS3 and 360.

Konami has launched a new website for Metal Gear Solid, sporting an interactive “Saga” section. As detailed in the explanatory video, fans can browse the franchise’s convoluted timeline, commenting and sharing individual elements, and even adding their own memories including images. Kojima Productions staff will respond to posts they find intriguing, and full social network integration means all this will be TweetBookPlus’d, too. Neat.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D a true remake

According to Siliconera‘s translation of a Game Watch report, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D is not a port or an HD brush up. Not only has the game been entirely remade, it’s been optimised for the 3DS hardware. Nice. Snake Eater 3D hits Japan on March 8; Western release is not locked down beyond early 2012.
