DICE producer Daniel Matros helps South African orphanage with e-sports
DICE producer Daniel “zh1nt0″ Matros is participating in an eSports charity event through Charitystream, a concept founded by Matros and Tim Kjell. What occurs, is donations are obtained by folks who watch live game streams and the money goes to orphanages around the world. The donations also help buy supplies and record documentaries of the team’s efforts. Raffles are taken part in by viewers for items donated to the charity by sponsors. Viewers donate to the charity fund and then take part in a raffle to win this object. Three days ago, Matros participated in a Battlefeild 3 livestream, which you can re-watch on Twitch TV. Funds donated through this particular event helped support an orphanage in South Africa. Click through the links to find out how you can help.

Battlefield 4 lacks “gimmicks” which don’t add value to the game
Battlefield 4 won’t contain motion control or other gimmicks, according to DICE’s Patrick Bach. “We are not interested in things that don’t make the game better,” he told Edge. “There are a lot of gimmicks – people throwing money at us – ‘can you implement support for this quirky control thing’. No, it doesn’t make the game better.” Bach said DICE is “extremely open to innovation,” but unless it adds value for the players, it’s just a “gimmick.” Bach used touch controls as an example, which until Apple perfected the tech, was considered contrived. “To us it’s the same with motion control and perceptual gaming in general; if it adds, great. If it’s a gimmick, ignore it.” Battlefield 4 is expected sometime this fall.

We didn’t sight the slip ourselves, unfortunately, and nobody has screen-grabbed it. Battlefield 4 is officially headed to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in northern autumn. No word on a next-gen release.
