Square Enix has released a developer video for Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn which discusses the MMO’s Full Active Time Events, also known as F.A.T.E. These are events in the game which can happen randomly while the player is minding his or her own business running about the game world. The events can come in the form of a huge monster spawn, or a group of such appearing in non-instanced areas. When it occurs, an alert will pop up on the game screen so player in the zone can join in. Find out more below. Game’s out on PC and PS3 in August and will release on PS4.

Square Enix has announced Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will launch this summer on PC and PS3. The third phase of closed beta testing will start in June, and as previously reported, this will include PS3 users. New screenshots for Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn have appeared online, showing the Archer, Gladiator, Lancer, Marauder, Pugilist, Conjurer, and Thaumaturge classes. If you head over to NeoGAF, you will also see shots of the jobs Bard, Dragoon, Monk, Paladin, Warrior, Black Mage, and White Mage. The game is looking rather lovely, and if you head below, you will be able to watch a developer gameplay walkthrough video (thanks, EdNorton). A Realm Reborn is a complete remake of Final fantasy 14 currently in beta and is slated for PC and PS3 later this year.

Square Enix is offering Legacy players a chance to have their names appear in the credits for Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn. Legacy members are those who racked up at least 90 days of paid subscription time after January 6 2012. Register before April 30 for bragging rights, as well as a discounted subscription rate and chocobo mount. A Realm Reborn is a complete rebuild of the much-criticised Final Fantasy 14, and is expected on PC and PlayStation 3 later this year.

The second phase of closed beta testing for Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn has started. Running across weekends throughout April, those who are in the early beta phase will be able to explore the forest environments of Gridania, with new features such as PC gamepad support and personal Chocobo mounts and Full Active Time Events. Phase three is scheduled for summer, and will include the PS3 version and more new content. You can still sign up for the beta.

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will allow more testers in the beta come April, and during Phase 2, support for gamepad controllers will be implemented. Word on this comes from the latest producer letter which you can read here. Phase 2 of the beta, Yoshida says, will kick off in early April. There are currently 100,000 testers trying things out, and if you want in on Phase 2, be sure to sign up here for your chance at a spot. Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn’s Phase 3 of the beta will go public and PS3 users will be able to join on the action. Both versions will be released later this year. Thanks, Siliconera.
