Lead artist Jeremy Mattson has outlined the conceptual process behind Star Trek Online’s upcoming starbase content. In a developer blog, Mattson describes drawing on the franchise’s visual history, fitting in with Starfleet’s aesthetic, and making the bases grand but not unbelievably so. There’s some pretty lovely space art. Starbases are expected in Season Six.

ArenaNet has announced weekend beta plans for Guild Wars 2 are on hold until it can implement new hardware. According to a post on the MMO’s Facebook page, new hardware will help cull some of the issues the beat experienced during the stress test. A second beta event will be announced once the the new hardware is in place. Thanks, TenTonHammer.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is out now in the US, so Pat and Sam decided to load the game up and shoot things together. They even filmed their session, which includes the first 15 minutes of the game. Watch for yourself below. The Game’s out in the UK on Friday.

SEGA has announced the availability of the Total War modding tool. The Editor enables modders to “create their own custom maps,” for multiplayer and custom VS AI battles across Shogun 2 and its Fall of The Samurai expansion. The Editor is completely free, and accessible now to Shogun 2 and Fall of The Samurai owners via the Tools section of their Steam library. Check out shots of it below.

CD Projekt RED will host a conference on May 30 at 5.00pm GMT where it will make a major announcement as well as reveal “a lot of other information” concerning its products and GOG.com. There’s a video below featuring CEO Marcin Iwiński discussing the upcoming event. The event will be streamed through Facebook.

Rovio has announced Angry Birds on Facebook has left beta. Angry Birds Friends now includes a tournament mode, new weekly levels, and more ways to earn power-ups. Weekly tournaments last from Monday to Sunday allowing folks to compete with friends on four different levels. The best overall score will earn a gold trophy, with silver and bronze for second and third place in four new levels every week, available exclusively in tournament mode. Players can also earn power-ups through tournament mode, and earn three power-ups bundles for a gold trophy, two for silver, and one for bronze. Players also get a power-up for each tournament level they play, and one for participating in the tournament. Go hit it up now.

Vigil has said graphics in the Wii U version of Darksiders II will be “at least as good” as PS3 and Xbox 360.

City Interactive has announced the closed beta for World of Mercenaries is live, and anyone who holds a beta key in hand can now download the client from Steam. The skill-based, teamwork-focused first-person-shooter was developed with URE3, and you can sign up for ongoing beta testing through here.

Turbine has released a new set of screenshots for its DDO expansion, Menace of the Underdark. The shots depict Dryad Monsters from the Dryad Challenge in the Eveningstar region and images of combat in the Werewolf Dungeon in Eveningstar – one of the new regions players explore when entering the Forgotten Realms.
