Gears of War: Judgment’s Season Pass will run you $20

A Season Pass for Gears of War: Judgment has been confirmed, and it will be made available at launch for 1600 MS Points, saving you 20% as opposed to buying the DLC separately as it becomes available. Epics plans for DLC include six maps, nine unlockables and two modes, and if you pick up the pass you’ll also net a double XP boost, early maps access along with weapons and armor skins. Gears of War: Judgment releases on March 19, and Microsoft is hosting a world premiere event featuring Aftermath and Survival modes. Thanks,D’toid.

Epic Citadel now available on Android

Epic has released an Android version of its mobile Unreal Engine tech demo, Epic Citadel. The explorable environment shows off what Epic’s graphics tech can do with the limited power of smartphones and tablets, and now includes a benchmarking mode. It’s the first Epic-produced release on Android, and may herald the release of Epic’s previously iOS-exclusive Infinity Blade games. See a trailer and screenshots through the break.

Gears of War feels stereotypical due to copycats, says Epic’s Chris Perna

Gears of War Kinect RTS images surface – rumour

A se of screens purported to represent a Gears of War RTS have surfaced on VGLeaks. The early alpha screens apparently show a game in which you could control troop movements by drawing lines with your fingers. There’s absolutely no proof, but a Gears of War title called Exile was shelved sometimes before April 2012, and is believed to have involved Kinect in some way.

Infinity Blade free for a week

Infinity Blade has been chosen as the App Store’s App of the Week, and as such, will be free up to and including February 21. Go get it. The Chair Entertainment effort was built on a special version of the Unreal Engine, and even a few years on from its December 2010 release is among the best-looking iOS games out there. A sequel was produced but follow up Infinity Blade: Dungeons is on ice following the closure of Impossible Studios.

NCSoft acquires license to use Epic’s Unreal Engine 4

Epic Games has entered into a long-term deal with NCSoft, which grants the later a license to use Unreal Engine 4 for its upcoming projects. It is the the first Korean studio to license the engine. NCSoft has licensed previous version of the engine in the past: Lineage II used Unreal Engine 2 and Blade & Soul was developed with Unreal Engine 3. Additional details around regarding NCSoft’s use of Unreal Engine 4 in its projects are to be announced at a later date.

GameHorizon secures Ubisoft, Paradox, Epic and more

Annual convention GameHorizon has signed up Bossa Studios, Epic Games, GameStick, Paradox Interactive and Ubisoft. GamesIndustry reports Ubisoft Reflections managing director Pauline Jacquey will give the opening keynote, and Paradox CEO Fredrik Wester will give a session on niche gaming. The event is sponsored by CCP and Epic Games among others; it takes place at The Sage in Newcastle on May 8 and 9, and many events will be livestreamed.

Wal-Mart is offering a free copy of either Gears of War 2 or Gears of War 3 – buyer’s choice – with pre-orders for Gears of War: Judgment, according to Gamespot. The bonus comes on top of the free downloadable copy of the original Gears of War which will be bundled with all new copies at launch. Gears of War: Judgment is a prequel co-developed by Epic Games and People Can Fly and is due in the US on March 19, exclusively for Xbox 360.

Gears of War: Judgment is complete and has been sent for manufacturing, a celebratory photo on the franchise’s Facebook page announced. The Epic Games and People Can Fly co-developed prequel is due exclusively on Xbox 360 in March.

Achievements for Gears of War: Judgment have shown up online, and if you want to get a jump on what to expect, head on over to Exophase. As usual, beware of potential spoilers should you decide to click. Upon release, the latest in the shooter franchise, co-developed by People Can Fly, contains new multiplayer modes, the maps Gondola, Island and Library, and the new game mode, Extraction.
