343 Industries and Tor Books have teamed up with a cryptic promotion for Greg Bear’s upcoming novel, Halo: Silentium. From now until the novel’s launch on March 19, the developer will release “encrypted communications” via Halo Waypoint bulletins and forum posts. Clever fans will be able to use these to unlock “additional content” of some kind. There will be also be some kind of data “embedded” in both the physical and e-book versions of thew novel. Huh. Silentium is the third entry in the Forerunner Saga series.

Here’s another little tidbit form the PAX East schedule which is sure to delight. If you’re heading down to the Boston show, be sure to sotp by Microsoft’s booth and check out the upcoming Castle Map Pack for Halo 4, which will apparently be playable. 343 Industries staffers will be on hand for a panel on the shooter’s multiplayer future, too. PAX East runs March 22 through 24.

Halo 4 players can soon loo forward to community created amps for Forge mode as well as a playlist for Extraction. The later, currently available in Team Throwdown and Majestic Team DLC, will soon provide you with the opportunity to extract “all day, every day.” Settings included in the new playlist consist of 5v5, rnabled motion tracking, disabling respawn, death cam enabling, and much, much more. The new Forge maps include the area-centric Simplex and Settler. Spawn times will also be worked on for the Majestic Team DLC playlist, and more all set to launch on March 4. Hit up Halo Waypoint for all the information you will ever need on the matter.

Halo’s new guardians 343 Industries hope they can tell stories which don’t necessarily centre on franchise poster boy Master Chief.

Halo 4′s Majestic Map pack DLC will release on February 25th. Developer 343 Industries has released a new trailer for the content, showing off the maps Landfall, Monolith and Skyline in action. There’s also ten new achievements, and a new free-for-all playlist called Infinity Rumble.

343 Industries has released a trailer for Halo 4:Spartan Ops- Episode 10. In the “Exodus” trailer, Jul ‘Mdama’s “final plan is set in motion,” and Spartan Palmer and other members of Fireteam Majestic are dispatched on a “do or die mission”. Spartan Ops: Episode 10 comes with new CG cinematics and five new gameplay chapters. It will be made available on Xbox Live Monday, February 18. Video and shots are below.
