The top games listed were based on average unique users per day connected to Xbox Live or full versions purchased between January 1 – December 31, 2012. Modern Warfare 3 was back on top of the XBL Activity Charts after being ousted last time out by Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition. The 360 version of the sandbox title was still the reigning champion on the Arcade Titles charts. Things may look a bit different next week, when the information on Halo 4′s launch week is revealed. Microsoft has confirmed the Xbox 360 firmware update applied on June 12 has caused issues to arise with the Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel controller. The firm told CVG it is “actively working to resolve this as soon as possible ,” and users are reporting that while the update also caused issues with peripherals from Fanatec and MadCatz, the June 20 update fixed the issue with at least the one from Fanatec. However, users are now reporting the June 20 update has caused issues with the peripherals made by Datel. MadCatz has said it has recieved no notice of an issue between its peripherals and either the Xbox Live update.

So you know that mandatory Xbox Live update that everyone’s been speculating about? According to Larry Hryb, the only feature you’re likely to notice voice search support for Australian and New Zealand accents. That certainly explains why it took such a long time to download; most humans can barely understand us. Everything else is under the hood stuff in preparation for new services and features, although Datel controllers may flip out after you’re updated.

Modern Warfare 3 once again topped the XBL chart for the week of June 4 and Minecraft remained at number two. The top arcade title played was once again Minecraft, the most played indie title was, again, CastleMiner Z followed by CastleMiner and like last week, GTA IV topped the GFWL list, followed by Age of Empires Online and Arkham City.
