Destiny’s world and its premise can be described as “mythic science-fiction” according to Bungie who said it took elements from science-fiction, fantasy and mysticism when creating the characters, landscape and storyline. It also has various weapon and character customization options.

Bungie has released a new ViDoc which delves deeper into the world of Destiny, showing you “more ways to become legend on this new adventure.” Check it out below. A fact sheet sent over by Activision earlier discussing the game, and how players will be exploring ancient ruins scattered across the solar system was posted earlier today with screenshots. You can find those here. Destiny is due on PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in 2014.

In Destiny, you will be able to play as a class called Fallen Captain, and these types serve to further demonstrate Bungie’s outstanding ability to design cool helmets. Also, they built a physical statue of one and are taking it to their Gamescom booth. They filmed a little featurette about it, which you can watch below. If you don’t care about statues, you should watch for the sweet original Destiny score that plays in the background.

When developing Destiny, Bungie said it took some inspiration from other open-world shooters such as Borderlands and Far Cry, by looking at the things it felt the developers did right, and the opportunities the teams may have missed.

At the Activision booth at E3 they had a 122-ft. superwidescreen projection screen called the Ronut (it wrapped around where viewers stood to watch) showing off their games. It had a sort of demo reel for Destiny in the rotation, and Bungie today released the track from the game that played over the reel. It’s by Marty O’Donnell and Michael Salvatori, it’s called Awakening, and it’s quite good. Listen here. Kinda gets me excited about the game.
