Far Cry 3: “Ignoring motivation for violence is a mistake” – Ubisoft talks maturity
Far Cry 3 developer Ubisoft Montreal caused debate for its super-violent showing at E3 in June, but lead game designer Mark Thompson tells VG247 that the violence is justifiable, a long as there’s a viable reason for it.

Ultima reboot is pure BioWare, ‘focus on story and choice’
Ultima Forever: Quest for the Avatar may be in the hands of new developer BioWare, but it won’t be a basic dungeon crawler. Executive producer Jeff Skalski has revealed that it will be a classic BioWare game through and through. Let’s hope the ending’s up to scratch then.

Kickstarter: Oculus-Rift virtual reality headset hits funding goal
Oculus-Rift a new virtual reality headset backed by id Software’s John Carmack aunched a Kickstarter page this morning, and it’s already surpassed its $250,000 goal with 1,402 backers pledging $346,703.

Street Fighter X Tekken patch: Ryu nerfed, gems staying put
Street Fighter X Tekken has received a new balancing patch from Capcom, although the developer hasn’t revealed much about what the update does besides making Ryu weaker. Capcom has also discussed the thorny issue of gems in the game.
