Ziff Davis quits, EGM closed, 1UP sold
It emerged last night that industry veteran Ziff Davis Media and Publishing has quit the business altogether, whilst magazine EGM has closed, and website 1UP sold has been to UGO.
“The transaction allows us to pay down debt and shift our full focus to our core PCMag Digital Network business,” Ziff Davis CEO Jason Young said.
“We thank our 1UP team members for their contributions and wish them the best of success into the future.”
Rumours of an UGO buyout broke early December and it has now become a reality as reports are that dozens of staff members have been laid off as a consequence.
EGM had been in circulation for 20 years.

Burnout Paradise Davis delayed a month, looks incredible
Burnout Paradise’s Jeremy Chubb’s posted on the US PlayStation Blog to say the game’s Davis update has been pushed back into September.
It was supposed to be coming out this month, but c’est la vie.
On a brighter note, Davis is the bike patch, and promises to be fucking amazing, so a slip of a few weeks is fine by us. And by you, right?
Take a look. There are some lovely screens through there.

Criterion shows bikes in Burnout Paradise
Criterion’s shown the first footage of Burnout Paradise motorbikes in its Crash TV podcast and, fair play, it looks awesome. Here’s an iTunes link.
There’s a heap of information there on Cagney, the first major update for the game, due to release on July 10. Bikes will be included in Davis, the August update, as will custom soundtracks and day-cycles. All of this is shown in the video, so watch it now.

First Burnout Paradise Davis island screens
On Criterion’s site. Looks sunny. The Davis update releases for Burnout Paradise in August, and it looks as though the developer isn’t messing about when it said it was going to do DLC properly. Take a look. There’s a movie after the break as well.
