Square Enix Japan has registered a trademark for Guns & Souls in Europe. Dug up by Siliconera, other trademarks found by the site include: Hitman: International Contract Agency and Hitman: ICA. The site wonders if the Hitman trademarks have anything to do with the Hitman game Square Enix Montreal is working on. They could also be trademarks for apps or mobile games. As far as Guns & Souls is concerned, we’ve no idea.

Square Enix has apologized over a Hitman: Absolution promotion in which people could put hits out on their Facebook friends for a myriad of reasons ranging from having less than ample female/male attributes to being a ginger.

Hitman: Absolution has been given a patch on PC, which will auto-start once the player logs into Steam. The patch fixes issues seen on specific configurations which caused the game to not start up, and Sniper Challenge Unlocks not carrying over into the game, Once the patch is applied, the game will receive the unlocks. The patch also addresses the issue negative scoring, however, newly accomplished positive scores will be needed to erase the incorrectly remembered negatives. Concept art for Hitman 6, or whatever Square Enix Montreal plans on calling it, has been released into the wild by art director Rasmus Poulsen and senior concept artist Leonid Enyne.

Hitman: Absolution has a new trailer available for you to gawk at called: The Kill Mode. Basically, it shows you various ways to off someone using the environment. Case in point: a dancer at a club gets a disco ball to the head, and some poor fella in what appears to be a lab coat gets set alight. Nice. Watch it below.

Hitman: Absolution contains a villain by the name of Blake Dexter, who is not only a twisted and formidable foe, but he is played by actor Keith Carradine in the game. Dexter is the cowboy hat wearing fella who pretty much runs the town of Hope, North Dakota in a shady manner. Think of him as the town’s Brad Wesley from Road House and you get the idea. Hitman: Absolution features asynchronous multiplayer, according to an announcement from IO Interactive at gamescom. Called Contracts, players can create their own scenarios, can pick out three characters on a level, choose the weapons, and challenge other players to “contract”. The faster the hits are made, the more money made. Weekly contracts will be added by the developer and earned money allows new scenarios with weapons and disguises. The mode is playable at gamescom and a video of the new mode will be released tomorrow. Thanks, Joystiq.

IO Interactive has announced the launch of the Hitman: Sniper Challenge for PC users, which is a sniper experience available to play the moment Hitman: Absolution is pre-ordered. PS3 and Xbox 360 users have already had their chance in the spotlight, now it’s time for PC users to start scoring. The PC version of Hitman: Absolution will be shown for the gamescom later this month.

Hitman: Absolution director Tore Blystad has said killing Agent 47′s handler Diana Burnwood was a “really big,” and “tough” decision for the team to make and it required a lot of going back and forth.

IO Interactive has released The Streets of Hope E3 demo for Hitman: Absolution. The 17-minute demo provides a deeper look into the game, and features voice commentary by game director Tore Blystad and Travis Barbour, who works on the community team at IO Interactive. During the demo, you will see Agent 47 trying to kidnap Lenny “the limp” Dexter, who may know the whereabouts of Victoria, who 47 swore to protect as a dying wish from friend Diana Burnwood. In order to get to “the limp”, the 47 will need to take out Lenny’s gang “The Cougars” first.

IO Interactive has released two new Hitman: Absolution videos. The first is the third video from the ICA files series which covers the background of the assassins called: The Saints. The second, is a video interview with actress Vivica Fox who provides the voice for the leader of The Saints. Hitman is out in November.
