Lords of the Fallen: Witcher producer making new RPG for next-gen formats

Lords of the Fallen is the new RPG from Tomasz Gop, executive producer of the first two Witcher games while he was at CD Projekt RED. It's heading to PS4, PC and Xbox 720 next year and German outfit Deck 13 is developing. It's also meant to be hard, like Dark Souls.

Speaking with Eurogamer, Gop confirmed that Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 developer City Interactive will publish the game, and that the it has already been in development for two years.

Gop said, "It's a challenging game, action RPG, which means a lot of advanced combat. When you walk through a location, and you have to fight 10 enemies, that takes around an hour. When you fight in Mortal Kombat, when you fight in Tekken, that's why it takes so long - Dark Souls is probably a strong reference as well.

"But we've done a lot of things differently. For example, we have a skill tree. I would call Borderlands here, because we're gonna have something like action skills in the game, so classes, stuff like this. I would say Dark Souls, I would say Borderlands in terms of the experience of developing your character."

Regarding next-gen development, Gop spooled off some details about how easy PS4 is to code for, and said of Microsoft's new rig, "I can't talk too much about the next-gen Xbox. but I don't think a lot of people [are] going to be surprised. I don't think it's going to be huge news what's inside, no - seriously."

So, how many Witcher fans out there are keen to see more of Lords of the Fallen? It certainly sounds interesting. Let us know what you think below.
