RAGE: The Scorchers DLC and Sleeping Dogs Zodiac Tournament Pack hit PSN next week
RAGE will be the recipient of DLC next week on PSN with the long-rumored The Scorchers DLC. Sleeping Dogs players will also be privy to the Zodiac Tournament Pack. This is according to the latest PlayStation Blogcast over on the US PS Blog, which Joystiq listened in on. Details on the RAGE DLC weren’t noted, but Trophies outed point to Ultra Nightmare Difficulty and a new job. Sleeping Dogs DLC will contain a new island, more fight moves, and new duds.

RAGE mod tools still inbound
RAGE fans have been waiting for mod tools since the multi-platform shooter launched a year ago, but a tweet from id’s John Carmack suggests they’re still in the works. Carmack says the modding suite is due “real soon now” but has been delayed by work DOOM 3: BFG Edition; he also mysteriously referenced “poor decisions on this all year”.

The full catalogue is: RAGE, RAGE HD, DOOM Classic, DOOM Resurrection, DOOM II RPG and Wolfenstein 3D Classic Platinum. These may be the last mobile games you see from id in some time; the mobile team has been absorbed by DOOM 4′s development.

id Software hasn’t “forgotten about” RAGE, says Willits
Tim Willits, studio director at id Software, has said the firm hasn’t forgotten about RAGE. Speaking with GameReactor at E3, Willits said: “We have a few things that we may announce soon, but I’m not sure. We haven’t forgotten about the title, and as soon as we have more news, we will definitely announce it.” As far as whether DOOM 4 is ready to be revealed, Willits would not be drawn in, only stating that if it were, the release of DOOM 3: BFG would be a “great time,” to do it. So, in other words, not yet. DOOM 4 was announced as being in production in May 2008.

Rage: The Scorchers PEGI rating hints at DLC release
As spotted by Siliconera, PEGI recently rated something from Bethesda called Rqge: The Scorchers, for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The Scorchers were a sixth bandit clan cut from Rage during development, so it seems quite likely we’re looking at an expansion or DLC pack for the 2011 id Software shooter.

Bethesda wins multiple Game Marketing Awards for Skyrim, RAGE
The Game Marketing Summit has handed the award for Game Marketing Agency of the Year to AKQA, which is the advertising partner of Bethesda. The studio handled the advertising for Skyrim. Campaign of the Year was handed over for Skyrim as well, and RAGE won Best Use of Sound, Best Website for a Product, Best Online Advertising Campaign. EA won for Best Partnership with ESPN, Ubisoft was handed the award for Outstanding Overall Marketing Campaign – General Entertainment for Rocksmith, and Activision took home an award for Most Effective Buzz Marketing: Promotion due to its Call of Duty XP advertising. Carmack: 64-bit executable for RAGE still in QA, information on mod tools coming “soon”

Bethesda confirms round of lay-offs at id Software
Bethesda has confirmed a round of lay-offs have occurred at id Software, after a tweet and NeoGAF post on the matter surfaced. Speaking with Joystiq, the firm said the lay-offs occurred through “standard business practice” as id Software “regularly evaluates staffing to ensure it has a workforce that meets the needs of the studio.” That being said, the official statement on the matter also noted id was “still recruiting and hiring qualified developers” as work on future titles at the studio “continues unabated.” [pic]
