Rage 2 extended gameplay shows off convoys, a guy punching himself in the face

Rage 2 looks insane, and that's how we like it.

Bethesda showed off extended gameplay footage of Rage 2 today during QuakeCon 2018.

In addition to all of the gunfire and explosions, and there's plenty, the video also showed off convoys in Rage 2 for the first time.

And a dude punching himself in the face. We bet he's great fun at parties, well, until he gets the cops called over his antics.

Convoys in Rage 2 are rather dangerous to tangle with as they are heavily defended. Luckily, players have the Phoenix which is nimble enough to weave between the death machines and blast them to bits in the process.

Both the Goon Squad and the Immortal Shrouded have convoy networks. Should one be defeated, a stronger convoy will take its place on a particular route. Each convoy is armed and defended in their own special way. The Immortal Shrouded for instance, shown in the video, is more high-tech.

These convoys can drop electric traps and some of the vehicles are protected by energy shields. The bikes are just as formidable as the armor on wheels. The two-wheeled annoyances support electric chain traps which are fashioned between them. Better look out for those, and take them out quick.

Those able to take down a convoy will earn some nice rewards, including larger and stronger vehicle weapons.

A previous look at a mission in Rage 2 was shown during Bethesda’s E3 showcase. If you missed it, or can't remember what you saw, give it a watch through the link.

If you're attending gamescom later this month, find out how crazy the game is for yourself by stopping by the Bethesda booth to get your hands on it.

And if you've never played the first game, and own and Xbox One, it's available from today through Xbox Game Pass.

Rage 2 is slated for release in June 2019.
