Peter Dinklage's Destiny dialogue has already been updated

Destiny had a great alpha, and Bungie has already addressed the one unanswerable critique fans produced.

destiny

Destiny players are accompanied on their travels through the shared-worlds shooter by an AI companion called a Ghost. This character is voiced by Peter Dinklage, best known as Tyrion Lannister on HBO's Game of Thrones.

As terrific an actor as Dinklage is, his performance in the Destiny alpha fell short of expectations, possibly for the same reasons a lot of video game voice acting falls down a bit: little context is provided, lines are recorded out of order, and recording may take place before the project's tone has been fully locked down.

In Bungie's latest newsletter, the developer confirmed that the lines in question have been touched up.

"The Ghost dialog has already been updated for Beta. It will be updated again for launch on September 9th, as well," Bungie said.

"Funny thing about Alpha builds... they’re not done. Please pardon our Moon dust!"

It's not clear whether Dinklage re-recorded the dialogue or if other changes were made, or whether the editing decisions were made before or after alpha feedback.

Elsewhere in the update, Bungie answered questions about the beta and posted a list of Destiny achievements and trophies.

Destiny hits PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in September.
