Magic: Legends reveals Diablo-like gameplay in first footage

Magic: Legends, one of several Magic: The Gathering games announced at The Game Awards in December, has produced its first gameplay trailer.

Magic: Legends was initially revealed with the help of a CGI trailer, with developer Cryptic Studios later announcing the game is an action RPG.

The developer has now released a first look at Magic: Legends gameplay, and it turns out, it's very much a Diablo-style action RPG. The footage was revealed via Game Informer, as part of the magazine's cover story for January.

Although the action game unfolds in real-time from a top-down perspective, players will be able to build a deck of 12 cards, four of which confer active abilities. As you can see in the video, the cards get cycled as you play.

There's still a lot we don't know at this point, but it's an interesting setup. You can see it for yourself in the video.

Magic: Legends is free-to-play, and will be available later this year on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
