Legendary steps in to co-fund Gears of War movie

The upcoming Gears of War film got a boost today from Legendary Pictures, who said it would co-fund and co-produce the project with Warner Bros.

New Line had previously dated the movie as a summer 2009 release, but since it was folded into Warner no date's been forthcoming.

The Gears of War film has been set up at New Line since early last year with Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey producing.

The game's dev boss, Cliff Bleszinski, is exec producing and consulting for Epic, which owns the rights.
