Destiny has made over $325 million worldwide in five days

Destiny has sold $325 million since its release last week, Activision has announced.

The figure was reached in five days time, and players have logged over 100 million hours in the first week alone and participated in 137 million activities.

Activision states the game is now the best-selling new game franchise "of all time" and said previously it was the most pre-ordered new IP in history.

The firm derived its figures from Chart-Track, first parties, sales to retail outlets and through internal estimates.

The day after release, Activation announced first-parties and retail had purchased $500 million worth of product. The shipped figure was identical to what Activision spent on the title between development and marketing.

Media Create announced this morning Destiny sold 140,780 units in Japan on PlayStation systems. It is exclusive to PS3 and PS4 in the region.

Destiny released Tuesday, September 9, on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
