343 Industries takes over Halo from Bungie on March 31
Bungie’s confirmed the final handover of power on the Halo IP to 343 Industries will take place by March 31.

Marathon 2 now available on iOS, free
The classic Bungie Macintosh first-person-shooter Marathon 2: Durandal is now available for free on iOS. Any iOS device newer than an iPhone 3GS will be able to experience a true classic, and the predecessor to Halo.
You can pick up the game here. The game itself is free, but offers a few bonuses via in-app-purchase like HD textures. This isn’t just a slipshod port either. It offers GameCenter support as well as support for Joypad.

Bungie’s first sci-fi trilogy released for free
A free, open-source version of Halo developer Bungie’s classic Marathon trilogy has been released online. Available for Linux, Mac and PC, the pack contains an updated version of the engine, a fan remake of the first Marathon, and lovingly HD remastered versions of Marathon 2 and Marathon Infinity. The new versions sport modern features like online multiplayer including co-op; control pad support; and OpenGL shader functionality. You can grab the pack here. The Marathon series of shooters kicked off in 1994 and wrapped up in 1996, predating Halo by five years.

Bungie releases documentary video as part of its 20th Anniversary celebration
As part of Bungie’s 20th Anniversary, it has assembled a mini-documentary on its past, present, and future. Around a hour long, the video features different team members, industry folks, and the studio’s creative director Jason Jones chatting about all things Bungie. Titled “O Brave New World”, the video is posted below. Around the 50 minute mark, it shows a bit of concept art which could be from the firm’s new game, which apparently bears the codename, Tiger.
