Monster Hunter World: Iceborne - how to get Monster Essence
Alongside hunting new monsters, you'll need to source some rare materials to craft the best gear in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne.
Monster Essence is a Master Rank material professional monster slayers can gather to improve their gear. You can obtain it by slaying Vespoids, and you'll be able to find them in several areas across the map.
Before setting out to collect Monster Essence, it would be a good idea to upgrade your harvest box and familiarise yourself with the new weapon augments and upgrades available in Iceborne.
The Guiding Lands offer up the best resources but you'll be facing the toughest monsters, so team up with your friends for the best chance of success.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne - how to get Monster Essence
You'll be able to find Vespoids in several locations, but you'll need to be Master Rank in order to do so. While small, these little buggers can surround and overwhelm you quite quickly, especially if you're distracted by a larger beast.
Vespoid locations:
- Coral Highlands
- Ancient Forest
- Rotten Vale
- Wildspire Waste
You'll need to use weapons that will leave behind a corpse to carve - if they shatter, you won't be able to collect Monster Essence - so use your slinger and ammo such as Redpits.
