Middle-earth: Shadow of War is full of monsters who fight you, fight for you, and fight each other

Middle-earth: Shadow of War throws significant enemy variety at you - and lets you turn it to your own ends.

We thought it was pretty cool that you could use the beasts of Mordor to attack enemies in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, but sequel Middle-earth: Shadow of War takes it up a notch with even more ways to leverage the monstrous denizens you'll encounter.

In the new gamescom 2017 trailer, you'll see our hero interacting with monsters in all sorts of ways. Some seem kind of friendly (Shelob is sexy now, apparently) or at least to take an NPC role. Some are there for fighting. Some will fight each other. And several can be made for fight for you. Riding dragons? We're always here for that. Thanks, Middle-earth: Shadow of War.

Makes the poor old orcs look pretty tame in comparison, doesn't it? Middle-earth: Shadow of War releases in early October for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. It will be enhanced for Xbox One X when the console launches in November.

Oh, and Middle-earth: Shadow of War is an Xbox Play Anywhere title, meaning if you grab the Xbox One version or purchase the PC build from the Windows Store you get the other one for free.
