Kazunori Yamauchi talks GT5, details A-Spec, B-Spec modes


The latest issue of Famitsu, released tomorrow, has talked to Kazunori Yamauchi regarding the Gran Turismo 5 A-Spec and B-Spec modes, the weather system, and more.

In relation to the A Spec and B Spec modes, Yamauchi said both were given equal billing, meaning both are full experiences which can be played from start to finish.

Yamauchi describes the modes as "basically" the same, but not identical. There will be some differences; for example, while a race in A-Spec might be three laps, the same race in B spec would be 15 minutes. The reason for this is because B-Spec is meant for players who enjoy strategy.

The GT creator also said the difference between to two modes will be clear to players as both have been built up as individual games.

Interestingly in B-Spec mode, the driver growth component has been made more detailed thanks to GT5 adding in elements of driver personality, along with physical and mental strength. This means drivers may get tired during long drives and becoming more mistake prone.

Furthermore, Yamauchi points out the mode also allows you to have multiple drivers on your team, which he says can be useful for long races, as you can switch out drivers.

Also mentioned was the dynamic weather system, which Yamauchi said is still undergoing adjustments; therefore, he couldn’t say at present if it's something which will be available in all courses and for all races.

Finally, Yamauchi mentioned the photo mode has 3D photo support and encouraged everyone to try it out, even though it requires a 3D compatible TV or photo viewer.

GT5 has a US street date of November 2. The European release was announced last night as November 3.
