Rumour: PS3 movie service to be announced at E3

Videogamecentral is reporting a rumour that Sony is likely to announce the PS3 online movie service at E3 this year.

The story comes after the LA Times reported yesterday that the machine is likely to see a service similar to Xbox Live’s movie delivery system launched this summer.

Burnout Paradise featured in Wyclef video

Wyclef Jean’s new video, Fast Car, is basically set in the Burnout Paradise universe.

“When you’re on tour, you have plenty of time, and every artist I know spends time on a tour bus with two things: PlayStation and the recording studio,” said Jean. “The PlayStation brand and Burnout Paradise fit perfectly with my vision for the Fast Car music video. Fast Car is like life – the pace of life is moving so fast, where you can burn yourselves out at times. The concept was about taking a song with such meaning and combining it with technology, but still keeping the essence of what we’re talking about and getting kids to listen to that message. A game like Burnout Paradise helps us get the attention of youngsters.”

Fair enough. You can watch the video here.

NETQUAKE: Sagat and Balrog in SFIV

streetfighteriv10.jpg

Street Fighter IV continues to excel in the “taking the piss” stakes today, with news that Sagat and Balrog are in the arcade version, as seen in this movie. From this:

“Taken from the Taito Center in Akihabara, the first clip shows Sagat fighting Zangief on a stage that looks reminiscent of Balrog’s Las Vegas backdrop from previous Street Fighters. Sagat still has access to his Tiger punches, and while he never used a Tiger Uppercut in the video, he did fling a lot of fireballs. According to the poster on YouTube, Sagat is currently the final boss of the game, and after you beat him in the arcade you get a “Thanks For Playing” message. Balrog, on the other hand, appeared to demonstrate many other moves, with shoulder charges, dash punches and uppercuts, and other aerial strikes. He appeared to attack Zangief on a stage that resembled the deck of a ship, which looked like a Junk.”

The game’s slated for a summer release in Japanese arcades. It’s been out IN OUR HEARTS for many months.

Amazing Street Fighter IV vid – the only one you need

Seriously, this is so awesome. There’s no need for us to even write about it. We can’t embed it, unfortunately, so hit this to watch.

Update: Capcom’s made EG take the video down. Apparently the Japanese bit at the beginning says, “Post this and we’ll sue you.” We’ll leave the link there for old time’s sake.

Five minutes of Army of Two co-op, UK content tomorrow

armyoftwo3.jpg

What it says. Here. The EA game is nearing release and starting to pop up more frequently now, although no one’s appears to be screaming from the rooftops about it. Army of Two is a co-op shooter from EA’s Montreal studio, which, according to Gamespress, is down for a March 7 debut for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Although worth noting is that UK embargoes on hands-on content expire tomorrow, so expect a fair few features in the morning, including one from Eurogamer.

Massive Army of Two presentation… in Spanish

armyoftwo.jpg

If you can speak Spanish, or if you’re really dying to know more on EA’s upcoming buddy-buddy third-person action title Army of Two, then take a look at these videos of a recent presentation of the game in Barcelona. Be warned: it’s shaky cam, but it does show plenty of in-game footage. Army of Two is nearing release, and, according to this, you can expect to see something substantial very soon.

Thanks, N4G.

Jaffe accelerates into Bananagate

You couldn’t make this up. Kotaku posted a quote from a recent Wired interview with David Jaffe yesterday as news, in which the first thing the God of War developer said, in response to a question about Mario Kart, was, “You know, honestly, I’ve been too busy recently trying to figure out why the fuck go-karts shoot banana peels.”

The interview was about Twisted Metal, Sony’s apocalyptic car combat game and Jaffe’s other big hit, as a precursor to the release of Twisted Metal Head-On: Extra Twisted Edition in the US next week. Predictably, the reaction to Jaffe’s comment – an obvious joke – was “strong”.

“You know, Jaffe,” said one Kotaku comment on the news piece, “I’ve been too busy recently trying to figure out how the fuck a clown can drive an ice cream truck while his head’s on fire.”

Jaffe has now responded in the way only Jaffe would: by swearing a lot in a video on the internet. You add a little colour to the grey, David. Don’t go changing.
