Mortal Kombat finally arrives in Australia on May 1
Mortal Kombat will finally get an Australian release next month, The R18+ Komplete Edition hits PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on May 1, for $40 – something of a bragain price, especially given it includes all DLC released in the interim. The original 2011 was refused classification, but thanks to the introduction of an R18+ ratings category (for “high impact violence, blood and gore”) on January 1, Australians can now legally get their hands on NetherRealm’s fighter.

Injustice Avatar items hint at more characters
A couple of new Avatar items hit the Xbox Live Marketplace this week, as part of a promotion for Injustice: Gods Among Us. The most interesting are costumes for Killer Frost and Ares, since neither character has been confirmed for the DC universe brawler. Injustice: Gods Among Us is due on PlayStation 3, Wii U and Xbox 360 in Europe and North America on April 19, and in Australia on April 17.

Mortal Kombat Australian release date secured
Mortal Kombat will release in Australia on May 29, Kotaku reports. The ninth core entry in the gory fighter was refused classification back in 2011, and again in handheld form last year. After the introduction of an R18+ ratings category for video games on January 1 2013, Warner Bros resubmitted the title in its Komplete Edition form, and secured an adults only classification.

In a press release regarding the newly-announced release date and special edition details, Injustice: Gods Among Us publisher Warner Bros. Australia has confirmed the fighter is headed to Wii U. The DC Universe-licensed effort, which apparently has a pretty great story, is NetherRealm’s first IP since Mortal Kombat. It’s also coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
