Yo-Kai Watch finally confirmed for a western release on 3DS

Yo-Kai Watch will finally head west after selling over 7 million copies in Japan.

It will arrive in the United States, Latin America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Korea on 3DS.

“Yo-Kai Watch is coming to the US, where a new audience will be able to experience this irresistible franchise for the first time,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re a kid, parent, fan or fan-in-the-making: everyone will be won over by this charming game.”

Beyond video games, manga, toys and anime TV shows, Yo-Kai Watch has generated over $1 billion in retail sales.

Level-5 said was looking at a 2015 release outside of Japan, so today's confirmation solidifies the release.

Other than the announcement of an impending launch, a date was not provided.

Update: A press release from Nintendo confirms the platform holder is responsible for western publishing of the Japanese phenomenon.
