Yo-Kai Watch 2 heads to the West on September 30

Yo-Kai Watch 2 has already been out in Japan for two years, with the third game in the series dropping on July 16. Meanwhile, here on western shores, North America will finally be able to grab the sequel on September 30.

There will be new areas to explore outside of Springdale, over 100 new Yo-kai, and a revamped in-game Yo-kai Watch.

You can choose between two versions of the game; Yo-Kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits, and Yo-Kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls. In a similar vein to Pokemon, each will include a rare Yo-Kai that only be found in their respective games.

“After being such a massive sensation in Japan, it’s great to see the U.S. start to embrace the mischievous and lovable Yo-kai,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “We’re excited to continue bringing fun Yo-kai experiences stateside this year.”

Final Fantasy 15 drops on the same day as the new Yo-Kai Watch title, so Hasbro are doubling down with a new line of toys planned for the fall.

The hype train actually kicks off this summer, with Disney acquiring the rights for the second season of the animated TV show, so by the time September rolls around, kids of all ages will be champing at the bit for their next dose of Yo-Kai goodness.

The new toy line features the new Yo-Kai Watch Model Zero, based on the watch protagonist Nate wears in season 2 of the cartoon, with 'Yo-Motion Technology'. New collectible medals to use with the watch will be available, as well as custom accessories, plush toys, and electronic figures. Did I mention the trading card game? There's that too.

There's no word yet on a UK release date.
