The Witcher 3 Act Two and Act Three secondary quests

Here are all of secondary quests you can expect to find during Act Two and Three of The Witcher 3.

The final hours of The Witcher 3 are the perfect time to tackle all those super difficult challenges. On this page, we've detailed all of the secondary quests you can expect to run into, from quests that'll grant you new gear to Treasure Hunts that'll line your inventory with loot.

While we have some guides on the below quests available, this guide mainly functions as a checklist for players to see what there is left to do, and which secondary quests are actually worth seeking out. Without further ado, here's our list of some of the more troubling secondary quests in Act Two and Act Three secondary quests in The Witcher 3 that you should seek out.

The Witcher 3 Act Two and Act Three secondary quests

By the time you reach Act Two and Act Three of The Witcher 3, you've hopefully ticked off all the most important secondary quests. Things like Witcher Contracts and Treasure Hunts can be left till after the ending (although they're more satisfying in the right level range), but the big story missions are best done as and when they arise, both to ensure you don't miss them and to prevent your quest log looking like a tremendous mess.

That said, there are a number of quests you'll encounter on your journey that are just way, way too hard for you when they first become available. A level 15 witcher, no matter their skill, is going to struggle with a level 30 quest. There are also a couple of quests that simply don't become available until later in the game.

This list covers all the more difficult or later secondary quests and pursuits. Some of these should be done before specific milestones, and I've noted these, while others can be safely left till after the main story concludes. You'll have an easier time of it in the epic final battle if you do tick most of these off, though, and if you're especially brave, careful and clever you can manage some of these earlier on.

If you've reached Act Two and Three you might be past the need for walkthroughs, but if not, don't fret. We have some guides below for you to use, although, we sadly don't have guides for everything right now. That aside, we do have this handy checklist for you.

Master equipment quests

Only one blacksmith and one armorer can make Mastercrafted diagrams, so if you want top of the line Witcher gear - Cat, Griffin, or Bear - you need to complete these two quests.

  • Of Swords and Dumplings (Novigrad)

  • Master Armourers (Crow's Perch)

Witcher gear quests

Speaking of top of the line Witcher gear, it's not enough to find the base diagrams - you need three triers of upgrade diagram (Enhanced, Superior and Mastercrafted) to get the very best swords, armour and crossbows. These diagrams are usually guarded by deadly foes, but you can sneak in and grab 'em at lower levels if you like - but be warned that the level requirements for the gear itself is pretty high.

Kaer Morhen quests

There are a number of quests available in Kaer Morhen in Act Two, which are no longer available once The Battle of Kaer Morhen kicks off. Get them done as soon as you can access Kaer Morhen during Ugly Baby.

  • Bastion

  • Berengar’s Blade

  • Greenhouse Effect

  • Monster Slayer

  • The Witchers’ Forge

Quests that trigger during Act Two and Three

The following quests are only available once you reach certain story points - if then.

  • A Final Kindness

  • It Takes Three to Tango

  • Reason of State

  • Faithful Friend

High difficulty quests

The very hardest secondary quests in the game are mostly found in Skellige, although Novigrad is home to the toughest Gwent quest in the game. These quests are best left for Act Two and Three, as you'll want to be level 18 and above to tackle them.

  • The Sad tale of the Grossbart Brothers

  • In the Heart of the Woods

  • Iron Maiden

  • Flesh for Sale

  • The Tower Outta Nowheres

  • Fists of Fury: Skellige
