Stardew Valley has been approved for the Nintendo Switch

Stardew Valley's charming farming sim RPG is one step closer to a release date.

Stardew Valley first launched for PC, but the farming RPG was heavily inspired by Harvest Moon, a classic Super Nintendo game. For that reason, a Nintendo Switch release seems appropriate, but it's the only major platform yet to see its own version of the game. Thankfully, there's good news on the way: Nintendo has officially approved Stardew Valley's Switch build, which means a release date should be locked down soon.

"Stardew Valley Switch Update, we've been approved," Chucklefish CEO Finn Brice wrote on Twitter. "Working on finalising a release date with all parties involved. Will continue to inform!"

Stardew Valley is a simulation-focused RPG where players attempt to develop a small farmstead outside the fictional Pelican Town. Along with clearing the land, planting crops, and raising livestock, players can also develop relationships with NPC townsfolk, potentially leading to an in-game marriage. Developer studio Chucklefish has been working on a Switch port for some time, and it seems these developments have finally paid off.

Stardew Valley is currently out for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
