Nintendo Switch has sold 10 million units worldwide in just nine months

Big numbers for Nintendo Switch.

Since its release in March 2017, Nintendo Switch has sold 10 million units worldwide.

That's sold through to customers, not sold to retail. Broken down, that's approximately 1.11 million units per month leaving stores.

Switch did rather well over Black Friday weekend despite the lack of discounts, according to previous data crunching, and the holiday shopping season isn't over by a long shot. Come January, we suspect the figure to have jumped considerably.

The console hybrid has remained the best-selling console in the US for the last four months, per NPD, and we suspect Switch to maintain its number one position when the November NPD report comes out this week.

Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime said the company is pleased with the response from fans, and said the company is doing its best "to satisfy demand during the holiday shopping season.”

Along with the fact it is something new and different, it hasn't hurt having well-received first-party titles such as Super Mario Odyssey, Arms, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Plus, early third-party support has helped matters too.

Next year, we can expect more nifty titles to land such as Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2, Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, Mega Man 11 and hopefully, the new Pokemon RPG.
