Metro writer suggests another subway shooter is on its way

Strap on your gas mask, Metro is coming back.

4A Games has been cagey on the future of the franchise post-Exodus, the series creator has been a little more loose-lipped. Dmitry Glukhovsky, the author of the Metro paperback series, suggested another post-apocalyptic subway shooter is in development.

Metro made a somewhat brief appearance in THQ Nordic's investor interim report earlier this week. Now, thanks to an Instagram post, we know that the IP creator is on board with writing the next game.

Gluhkovsky even did a little unofficial art himself, slapping a big TBC over Metro Exodus box art.

Metro's mention was more of a footnote in a lineup of big news from THQ Nordic. This week's reveals include confirmation of Saints Row's return, trouble on Dead Island, and more news on a decade-overdue Timesplitters return.

February's Exodus was a big departure for the series. Metro finally broke free from its linear subterranean shoot 'em up roots, taking a rollicking train ride across a vast open world. It's likely this next game will give us more of that. There's no returning to the tunnels, after all.

We'll keep you posted as we find out more.
