Entire The Witcher 3: Complete Edition Will Fit on the Notoriously Small Switch Cartridge

Saber Interactive found a way to get The Witcher 3, and all the expansions in a single cartridge.

Here's something crazy. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition, which includes both expansions and 16 free DLCs, will all fit on the Nintendo Switch cartridge.

The internal storage capacity for Nintendo Switch cartridges are notoriously cumbersome. There are different cartridges at different storage sizes going all the way up to 64GB. But producing the max-sized cartridges cost more money than say a 32GB cartridge, or 8GB cartridge.

That's why games like Team Sonic Racing even cut content like opening movies in order to stay below a certain cartridge size. Other games, like Wolfenstein or L.A. Noire, will install the rest of the game as a separate download.

But The Witcher 3: Complete Edition will house everything in a single cartridge. So that means no downloading additional parts of the game onto the Switch's storage.

The Nintendo Switch port is being handled by Saber Interactive in close cooperation with CD Projekt Red. Saber is best known for its work on Halo: The Master Chief Collection, as well as other games like World War Z.

The Witcher 3 on Switch is promising over 150 hours of gameplay, including all the content from the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions. While the screenshots certainly look impressive, we'd definitely like some hands-on time to see how the game runs on the Switch for ourselves.

Our colleagues at Digital Foundry tried to test what a Witcher 3 on Switch could look like, and found the task very difficult. But that was on a PC built to simulate the Switch. There is no doubt a big difference between the test model and the real deal.
