Disco Elysium: Where to Find Your Clothes and Shoes

We show you where to find all your clothes in the Whirling-in-Rags hostel.

Disco Elysium starts with you lying on the floor of a hostel in a trashed room, your sense of personal identity destroyed and your body trying desperately to recover from the chemical violations inflicted on it. Also, you're only wearing underpants and socks. Before you deal with those larger existential crises, you're going to need to find your clothes and shoes.

Where Are My Clothes?

Disco Elysium has numerous outfits and accessories to try on, all of which offer different stats, but if you're looking for the starting outfit you were wearing before your three-day binge, all of that can be found in and around your hostel room. There are six pieces of clothing to find altogether, each of which change your stats when equipped.

  • Disco-Ass Blazer
  • Flare-Cut Trousers
  • White Satin Shirt
  • Horrific Necktie
  • Green Snakeskin Shoe (Left foot)
  • Green Snakeskin Shoe (Right Foot)

Where to Find the Disco-Ass Blazer

A rather stained olive-green coat, the blazer is found amid the tangle of sheets lying on your bed. It equips in the "Jacket" slot of your inventory.

Where to Find the Flare-cut Trousers

(+1 Savoir Faire, -1 Electrochemistry)

Groovy, baby. These yellow bell-bottoms are the easiest clothes to find by far, lying next to you when you wake up. They also contain the room key, meaning you have to pick them up if you want to leave. They equip into the "Pants" slot of your inventory.

Where to Find the White Satin Shirt

(+1 Conceptualisation, -1 Suggestion)

Well, maybe "off-white" at best. Stagger through into the bathroom, and you'll see this hanging off the shower curtain rail, presumably drying from… whatever you did to it. It equips into the "Shirt" slot of your inventory.

Where to Find the Horrific Necktie

(+1 Inland Empire)

Jesus, the colors! Your trusty, crusty tie is hanging from the ceiling fan, and actually involves your first stat check to get it down. The fact that it's based off Savoir-Faire means that you should get your trousers on first, just for the bonus they offer you, but get the shoes afterwards - they reduce that very skill.

The check also becomes a lot easier if you pull on the fan first, switching it off. Still, be careful - failure means your aching body will take a point of damage. It should equip into the "Neck" slot of your inventory.

Where to Find the Green Snakeskin Shoe (Left Foot)

(+1 Composure, -1 Savoir Faire)

Surprisingly easy to miss, your left shoe is hanging from a coat hook in the corner of your room. It'll equip automatically to the "Shoes" section of your inventory, but you'll need its partner to get the bonus they provide.

Where to Find the Green Snakeskin Shoe (Right Foot)

(+1 Composure, -1 Savoir Faire)

If you're still in your room, you can check the broken window on the left, prompting a Visual Calculus check. Don't worry if you don't pass, the result is clear - your right shoe displeased you at some point in your revelries, and so great was your disdain in the moment that you hurled it through the glass. If you want to get it back, leave your hostel room, but go south-east (there'll be some pocket change on the counter you walk past). Go through the door to the balcony outside, then loop around so you're standing outside your window. Your shoe is lying right there, all you have to do is pick it up, and it'll become a single item with its partner, equipped in your "Shoes" inventory slot.

Your full ensemble. You're probably not ready to face reality, but nobody would know that to look at you. | Joel Franey/USGamer, ZA/UM
