Dead Island releasing in 2011, PS3 version confirmed

DeepSilver's formally confirmed it's to publish Techland's Dead Island with a release this year.

The publisher also confirmed that a PS3 version was in the works. The game was previously a PC and 360 exclusive.

Today's news follows the release of a trailer from the game last night, the first in three years. The video has even become, and still is at the time of writing, a trending topic on Twitter.

The game is set in a first-person perspective on a tropical island. It'll have a heavy focus on "character development and customisation" as well as a "vast array of weapons" with melee being a heavy focus due to "firearms and ammunition being scarce."

Dead Island will have four-player co-op as well.
