Capcom disappointed with Flock! sales, says zombies better than sheep
Capcom exec Seth Killian has told D'toid that despite winning a BAFTA, Flock! was a disappointment for the company in terms of sales because it just did not "find it audience".
"Games like Flock! were a low for me, just because I thought it had so many fun ideas, but didn't really find its audience," he said. "Launching a new IP is always hard. Maybe we should swap out the sheep for zombies?"
However, despite the low sales Flock!, developer Proper Games and Capcom maintain a good relationship, as the two are currently working on a new Final Fight title for consoles slated for release this year.
New IP is something Capcom has said in the past it will always continue to support, while admitting that the creation of new titles requires a balancing act.
"Naturally, we always need to be introducing new IP so that we have some percentage of them “stick” to become ongoing franchises," said Capcom bossman Christian Svensson back in September. “But it’s always a balancing act - both to keep fans happy and to manage risk.”
A couple that have seemed to have "stuck" so far include Lost Planet and Dead Rising, both of which have sequels in the works.
