Age of Empires: Definitive Edition launches in October, beta kicks off today

Age of Empires: Definitive Edition gets a release date, Definitive Editions for Age of Empires 2 and 3 are up next.

Gamescom is turning out to be quite the event for Age of Empires fans.

Age of Empires 4 has been announced, and is in development over at Relic Entertainment.

And what's more, Microsoft also announced the release date for Age of Empires: Definitive Edition, which we first saw at E3 2017.

"Built as an homage to PC gamers everywhere, Age of Empires: Definitive Edition will show the classic at its best," said Microsoft.

The Windows 10 exclusive will be available on October 19 and you can check out the trailer below.

If you haven't already signed up for the closed beta, you might have missed the boat as it kicks off today.

It's not just Age of Empires that's getting a shiny new overhaul.

Age of Empires 2 and 3 will also be getting Definitive Editions, but there's no word on when they'll be releasing just yet.
