We’re looking for someone to cover the Gamescom day-shift this year. The Cologne show runs from August 19-23.
Is it you? Are you “the one”? Questions you may ask, answered:
Will I get paid?
What do I have to do?
Write an awful lot of news very quickly, not be stupid, not ever moan ever.
I’ve never written professionally before.
Sorry, dude. We’ve got very little time to train.
Will I go to Germany?
No. You’ll be sat at your PC at home, crying onto your soon-to-be-arthritic hands.
If it works out, will I be able to do more?
You’re a sharp cookie.
Sounds amazing! Please let me do it!
Mail patrick [at] vg247.com and we’ll consider it.
Go on, then. Hurry up.

According to this job ad, Square Enix is looking for someone to “edit and proofread in-game text and voice scripts for large-scale video game projects.”
Applicants should be proficient in the AP Style Guide and Chicago Manual of Style, apparently, and there’s a minimum of 2-3 years experience required.
In order to separate the wheat from the chaff, Square Enix wants to you to write a story in which “you are a character from a Square Enix game who has been magically teleported to Japan. Using the language of the position for which you are applying, write a short story about your adventures in this new land. The story must be 800-1000 words.”
If this sounds like your cup of tea, go for it. What have you got to lose?

This job ad for Liverpool developer Bizarre Creations looks for single-player level designer with “proven ability to design and create engaging gaming experiences (preferably a 1st/3rd person shooter)”. As far as has been announced, the PGR studio is currently working on The Club and, presumably, another Gotham game, so this could mark a new project.
There’s no official comment on this from Bizarre owners Activision as yet, and you’re unlikely to hear anything from the studio until the announcement, so keep on guessing.
