IGN vet Alanah Pearce joins God of War studio Sony Santa Monica

The former journo has landed her dream job in PlayStation's first-party.

Former Funhaus presenter and games journalist Alanah Pearce has announced that she is joining Sony's Santa Monica Studios.

In a post on Twitter, Pearce revealed that she had taken a job as a video game writer at the PlayStation first-party studio ahead of a video on her YouTube channel discussing the move.

"I am writing a video game at one of my favourite studios in the entire world," she said, before joking that she has to give her viewers disclosures when covering Sony games now. "God of War is one of the best games of the generation."

Pearce said that this was something she had been working towards for some time, consulting on three video games and having done other work on two. In the past, she has done voice acting for Gears 5 and Afterparty, in addition to lending her likeness and voice to a character in the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077.

While it's not clear what game Pearce is contributing towards, Sony Santa Monica is working on a brand new God of War game called Ragnarok. This title was announced during Sony's PlayStation 5 Showcase and is set for a 2021 release date.

In a recent interview, PlayStation boss Jim Ryan refused to say if God of War: Ragnarok is a PS5 exclusive or whether it'll be coming to PS4, too.
