Zeboyd behind Penny Arcade Adventures 3

The long-lost third episode of Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness is getting a second lease at life thanks to the developer behind Cthulhu saves the World.

Hothead Games developed the first two episodes in the series as 3D RPGs, but after the second release tanked, the project was shelved.

Joystiq reports the third episode was saved when fans suggested Penny Arcade hook up with indie darlings Zeboyd Games.

Zeboyd's take is very different to Hothead's, mebracing the retro JRPG feel of its other titles.

Penny Arcade staffer Jeff Kalles is serving as producer, while Jerry "Tycho" Holkins is consulting on the game's writing.

The game's story contain additional details not revealed in the text version of Episode 3, and ends on a cliffhanger; Zeboyd and Penny Arcade are in discussions for a fourth episode.

Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 is due for release in northern summer on Android, iOS, Mac, PC and through Xbox Live Indie Games.
