Star Wars: The Old Republic in the running for Mac port

BioWare is investigating the feasibility of bringing MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic to OS-X - as well as debuting some of its other properties in mobile form.

"We know there's a big Mac audience of BioWare fans. We know that's an important and large audience. And we want to serve that audience," Ray Muzyka told Massively.

Fellow co-founder Greg Zeschuk stressed that Mac gamers can't play The Old Republic "yet", suggesting a port is on the cards at least.

"We've done a lot of Mac ports before of our games. We haven't announced any details yet for The Old Republic, but we know that's an important and large audience," he said.

"That's definitely one of the things we're looking at next. We want to get this launch under our belt and everything stabilized and happy, and then we'll look at other platforms, and that's obviously one of the first ones."

Speaking to Joystiq, Zeshuk said one BioWare staffers job is to look at "logical extensions to what we do", in terms of brining the company's properties to other platforms.

"What we do a lot is we'll actually explore a platform and kinda play around with it," he said.

"We did that iOS Mass Effect Galaxy thing really early. We said, 'We should just try this and see what happens.' And we learned something from it."

Zeshuk said further Android and iOS development is "definitely something we're looking at" and hinted that the company may have announcements in the future.
