Reggie: 3DS coming to "all major markets" by March 2011

3D? On a handheld? Without glasses? Preposterous! That sounds like something straight out of the far-flung future.

According to Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, however, the future is a little less than a year off for "all major territories" - not just Japan. Guess we need to start jetpack-proofing our collection of ugly jumpsuits.

"We’ll be making individual market decisions in terms of what’s happening in Japan, what’s happening in the Americas, what’s happening in Europe. The one thing, for sure, is that we will launch in all of our major markets by March 31, 2011," he told IndustryGamers.

The March cut-off date was previously confirmed for Japan. Other territories, however, went unmentioned.

Reggie also made sure to emphasize that the 3DS design seen at E3 - mildly disturbing as our intense feelings for it were - is not final. Things like button placement may change based on fan feedback.

Honestly, though, we think Nintendo's miniature marvel's looking great. Based on what we saw at E3, however, we do have one recommendation: attach a catcher's mitt (or some other soft surface) to the device in order to give people's jaws a gentle landing when they attempt to plummet toward the floor after exclaiming "Holy crap! It really works!"
