Pachter: Modern Warfare 3 sales to reach $1.1 billion in six weeks

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter expects Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to outdo every other game this year.

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will likely be the year’s top-selling game," Pachter said in a note to investors, as reported by IndustryGamers.

"If MW3 receives strong review scores (≈ 85 or above on Metacritic.com), it should at least match predecessor Black Ops’ sales (over 25 million units)."

In fact, Pachter said that he expected Modern Warfare 3 to follow sales trends and outdo its precursor.

"[I] would bet that [Modern warfare 3 sales] are 10% higher over the same time frame, so $1.1 billion in the first six weeks," he said.

The analyst also said he expected between 3 and 4 million players would subscribe to the premium version Call of Duty Elite, the franchise's new social network.

Modern Warfare 3 launches next week on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
