MGS 5: Ground Zeroes UAE street date wasn't broken on purpose, producer asks fans to avoid spoilers

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes reportedly had its street date broken in the United Arab Emirates on Monday. This is now confirmed, and director Hideo Kojima has stepped forward to stress that this wasn't intentional, while the game's senior producer has asked those with the game to avoid posting spoilers.

We reported on the Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes street date break through the link, which was followed by photos of the game posted by those who bought it.

Now; DualShockers has translated a tweet from Hideo Kojima's Japanese Twitter feed on the matter.

"Ground Zeroes isn’t a linear game," he stressed, "and it’s a real sneaking simulator that provides a high degree of freedom. You can play any numbers of times and play style varies from person to person. This means that it’s very compatible with the share button. But seeing it demonstrated by an early leak wasn’t my intention."

The issues, of course, stems from press who finished the game in around two hours, but adding that there is a vast amount of content on offer, should you wish to deviate from the key missions. One reviewer stated that they finished the game within this time, but only ended up with a 5% completion stat.

In a bit to reduce spoilers, Kojima Productions Senior Producer Ken-ichiro Imaizumi then tweeted, "Dear Sir/Madam, I know some people has already got GZ. Just enjoy but DO NOT spoil. There’re many fans are waiting for this for long time."

Will you be avoiding spoilers or have you already fudged it for yourself?

The game's out next week in the States and across Europe.
