Kingdom Hearts 3 may produce a mobile tie-in, as previous entries have done.

Kingdom Hearts has flirted with mobiles before; in addition to a social game, Kingdom Hearts Re:coded, a follow up to Kingdom Hearts 2, originally released as an episodic feature phone game.

In a new interview with Famitsu translated by Gematsu, series producer Tetsuya Nomura hinted hat Kingdom Hearts 3 may get a similar treatment, or perhaps some kind of app support, or something.

"Development on Kingdom Hearts 3 is going smoothly, but there will also be new announcements connected to it," he said.

"As one of those new announcements, I think we should be able to announce a smartphone-specific development for the series in short order.”

This announcement may come at the D23 Expo Japan in November.

Kingdom Hearts 3 itself has not been dated. It's coming to PS4 and Xbox One.
