Injustice dev "willing to give up" eight years of work out of love for PS4

Injustice: Gods Among Us developer NetherRealm Studios is happy to chuck years of effort optimising for the PlayStation 3, because the PS4 is just spiffing.

"At NetherRealm, we loved the PS3. I know some devs really didn't like the SPUs, but we have a tech team that spent eight years really perfecting that thing. So we had near-100 percent SPU utilization for Injustice," senior producer Adam Urbano told Polygon.

"That said, we were willing to give it up because the PS4 is so easy. The tools are great, the hardware's great, it's super-elegant to work on. So getting code up and running is substantially easier than it's been in past generations."

Urbano said the ease of development meant NetherRealm was able to focus on getting the port right, maintaining 60fps and adding advanced anti-aliasing not seen in the current-gen versions.

Injustiuce: Gods Among Us is coming to PS4 at launch in the Ultimate Edition, which is available now in North America and coming to Europe later this month.

The PS4 itself drops on November 15 in North America and on November 29 in Europe and selected PAL territories.
