Hearthstone: Rastakhan's Rumble guide: keyword, Legendary and Spirit cards, Rumble Run and everything else you need to know

Hearthstone's next expansion is out now, and the new set is thematically built around the popular troll tribe that's also been a big part of WOW's recent Battle for Azeroth expansion.

As well as introducing a meaty chunk of new cards to the game, Rastakhan's Rumble will also introduce a new keyword called Overkill. This rewards you for doing more damage to a minion than is required to kill it, and will, for example, allow you to take a second swing of a weapon.

There's also going to be a new single player mode called Rumble Run. This roguelike slice of content is reminiscent of the Dungeon Run and Monster Hunt modes that were introduced with the Kobolds and Witchwood expansions of the last 12 months.

In our Rastakhan's Rumble guide, we've rounded up all of the latest information about the new card set.

Once the expansion goes live, our friends at Metabomb will be busy putting together guides for all the new decks. We'll add links to all of those articles as soon as they're ready, so you can quickly get stuck into the latest creations.

Hearthstone Rastakhan's Rumble: New Cards

A total of 135 new cards will be added with the launch of Rastakhan's Rumble.

Each class is again receiving two Legendary cards, and they're also gaining special Spirit cards as well. These zero-attack cards gain Stealth for a single turn after being played, and provide a special bonus effect to the owner.

For example, the Rogue's Spirit card is called Spirit of the Shark and it causes the Battlecry and Combo effects of all friendly minions to be triggered twice.

Hearthstone Rastakhan New Keyword: Overkill

The new Overkill keyword appears on a handful of the new cards, and rewards you for doing more damage to a minion than is necessary to remove it from the board.

One example we've seen since the announcement is Sul'thraze, a Warrior weapon that does four points of damage and can be used a total of four times. If you Overkill a target, you can actually swing with the weapon a second time on the same turn.

Alternatively, there's the new Hunter spell called Baited Arrow. This does three damage to a target minion, but any excess damage is converted into a five attack, five health Devilsaur for your side of the board.

Hearthstone Rastakhan Single-Player Content: Rumble Run

The next slice of single-player content for Hearthstone is called Rumble Run.

Unlike the more rapid-fire puzzle system used for August's Boomsday Project, Rumble Run returns to the roguelike experiences provided by The Witchwood and Kobolds and Catacombs.

First you'll choose from one of three randomly selected teams to pledge your allegiance to. Each team comes with its own unique Shrine, which spawns on the board at the start of each match and provides a special bonus.

One Shrine causes your Battlecry effects to go off twice, for example, while another refreshes your Mana Crystals whenever you gain Armor.

Once a Shrine is destroyed it becomes dormant, and the effect disappears. You'll have to wait three turns for your Shrine to be revived, and so balancing the use of your cards with the availability of your Shrine will be a crucial part of your strategy.

As you work your way through an unknown number of boss encounters, you'll be able to add new minions and spells to your deck.
