Gran Turismo 6: "We actually do have a PS4 version in mind", says Yamauchi

Gran Turismo 6 hits PS3 later this year, but Polyphony Digital president Kazunori Yamauchi has stated that the company has a PS4 version in mind during a new interview.

Speaking with OPM, Yamauchi said, “We actually do have a PS4 version in mind,” although he didn't say much more on the matter.

The game has 1,200 cars and Yamauchi's desire for authenticity across the board has let to cars handling more accurately than ever. He said that his team's data capture for vehicles is attributed to a lot of driving and sensors.

"Driving a racing car, you control it with a lot of different sensors mounted on the car, he explained. "We’re able to collect a lot of different data: how the ride height of the car changes when you’re driving, how that changes in relation to the aerodynamics, and how your steering balance changes.

"Two weeks ago I drove the Nissan GTR GT3 on the Nürburgring, and we collected the data from that car as well – and when we returned to Japan we fed all this data into Gran Turismo. I drove the same [car and track] in Gran Turismo, and started to realise what was different.”

Do you want to take to Gran Turismo 6's tracks and feel how the cars handle for yourself? No bother. Just download the demo and take it for a spin.
